Now that you have decided on your wig, you're probably wondering how to style a long synthetic wig. Some synthetic wigs can be heat styled whilst others can not as it can permanently damage the wig, so here are some of our top tips for how to style a long wig;

  • Heat Styling: Before heat styling your long wig, check the description and packaging to make sure the wig can withstand heat styling and high temperatures. Ignoring these instructions can cause the synthetic fibres to melt and permanently damage the wig! Firstly, heat your curling iron or brush to a temperature no higher than 180 degrees celcius/ 360 Fahrenheit and secure your wig on a wig holder. Spraying heat protector as you go, either curl or straighten the hair as you would your own, focusing in smaller sections for tighter curls or starting at the root and gliding down for straightening. To finish brush through with a wide tooth comb for your desired style.

  • Trimming: If you are wondering how to cut a long wig short, here are some easy steps to help you achieve the look you desire. Firstly place the wig onto the head of the person who will be wearing it and place a towel over their shoulders to catch falling hair. Brush the hair smooth and section off the hair into 3cm/1in sections so you can focus on one section at a time. Decide the final length, angle the siccors upward and cut into the wig rather than cutting straight across and comb with a wig comb as you go.
